Tutorial Tuesday » Glittered Condiment Mason Jars

February 10, 2015

It's been awhile since I posted. But Delilah's birthday party (which I focused all my attention on for weeks) was this past weekend. I pretty much made all of the decor, and my oh my, did it take forever! This one had to be one of my favorites. For Delilah's birthday, we had decided to go with the colors gold + robin egg blue. As for the food, we wanted to do a burger bar. I was searching thru Pinterest (which I do all day, everyday) for burger bar ideas and I came across this idea! Since I love mason jars, I figured it'd be perfect for the party! The jars would hold all the condiments in a cute and classy way. Sadly, I didn't just want plain ol' mason jars. I wanted to spice it up a bit. So, I continued looking through Pinterest. I finally found a pin that inspired me once more! The DIY is essentially glitter-dipped cups. I then put two and two together, and voila! I honestly feel like this is kind of the best thing since sliced bread because if you know me personally, you'll understand my love for anything gold, glittered, and mason jar-y.

Here's what you will need:
  • Mason Jars (I had six)
  • Mod Podge OR Spray Adhesive
  • Craft Glitter
  • Paper Plates
  • Foam Brush
Just a heads up, the .99 Cent store is a little bit like mason jar heaven! So if you're looking to purchase on the cheap side, definitely head that way. Also, please ignore my hand vac in the background, lol.

1. If you're using the jars to put actual food in, please wash the jars really good and dry them. If you're not, then just skip this washing step.

2. Place two paper plates out. One will be for the mod podge, so you won't have to keep dipping into the jar and making a huge mess, and the other for the glitter for similar reasoning.

3. Grab a jar, dip your brush into the mod podge, and start applying the adhesive onto the jar. You can put it on unevenly, straight across, all over, or just a part of it. I put on a thick layer and barely went half way.

4. Here comes the fun part: pour all the glitter on like a glitter crazed fiend!

5. When you're all glittered out, place the jars upside down. Let them settle and dry.
